What's the most dubious/ludicrous observation you've heard on CN or elsewhere?

There's a fellow over in the Planetary Imaging forum fighting for his life in the comments, after claiming that he resolved Uranus' five major moons (including Miranda, smaller disk than Betelgeuse) into spheres with his 155mm refractor (complete with the usual ad hominem attacks and dismissing people's arguments with his chem degree). lol.gif

These things never cease to make me chuckle, so I'm curious. What's the dumbest, most ludicrous thing you've ever heard a fellow astronomer claim to see?

How in the world can we respond to this without making enemies?

I agree with Keith. It's not an appropriate question for a world-class friendly forum such as this. There is absolutely no upside to answering the question the OP poses.

I thought I have seen some pretty weird things but then I am pretty weird.  Or so I have been told.

Folks, this forum is for sharing viewing experiences, not taking another fellow member to task.  This is not CN's policy of respecting fellow members, play nice. lock.gif
