Here's my take on Jupiter this morning, captured in good conditions. Makes for a nice comparison with other images captured with larger apertures that were posted earlier today.

This is my first image with the Great Red Spot in 2024 and I was thinking it was looking smaller than recent years. I put together this GIF from my images comparing the GRS from 2021-24:

Great image and processing Ray!

If I didn't have this lingering cold I'd definitely have taken advantage of the nice clear weather we had frown.gif

Great shot Ray and interesting comparison of the GRS. The following storm/feature is very well defined. Maybe that has extracted material from the main storm.

That's really nice work Ray.  In the GRS images, have you accounted for the distance between Jupiter and Earth in the imagery?  We're still two months from opposition and another 10% increase in angular size still to come.

Thanks, Don. Yes, these are from map projections in WinJUPOS.

Thanks, Winteria! Sorry about the cold. I was wondering why you weren't posting - I sometimes use your images to tell me if I missed good conditions when I skip a night!

Thanks, Roberto. I wondered about that. I know it changes over fairly small time scales, so this might just be a temporary shrinking.

Ray, excellent image! I didn't realize how much the GRS changes over the years. Personally I like the 2022 version where the outside ring around the GRS is nicely defined. Thanks for posting

Regards,

Steve
