Greetings - I made the acquaintance recently of a gentleman who bought a new Questar through Company Seven a few years back. His was a pretty normal story - until he got to the part where Company Seven wouldn't release his new scope to him until it had been sent back to New Hope for correction of an optical issue they detected, not once not twice but three times. I'm wondering - has anyone here had a similar experience?

Yes. Mine had a very small cosmetic issue I am not sure I would have seen or been concerned about.
C7 is at a whole different level of precision (some would say obsession). Take it as a good thing.
