I began observing Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS on Saturday Oct. 12 from a location about 18 miles from home.
I'd say it's about Bortle 3 out there.. I took several exposures with my 200mm f2.8 Canon lens that night, unguided
but was somewhat underwhelmed with the results. The next day, after seeing some images posted with a wider
field of view, I decided to try imaging with a wider angle lens. The only thing I had was the 18-55mm kit lens
that was included with the camera. This is one six second exposure taken Sunday night at about 8:00 PM.
The moonlight illuminated the foreground which I think really adds to the overall appeal of the photo. I was able
to spot it naked eye starting at about 7:30 PM.
