The night before Halloween was unseasonably warm and comfortable, which allowed me to stay out a bit later than usual and I observed M34 for the first time. Using low power for a wide field of view in my refractor. There is a very nice asterism of stars within this open cluster formed from a pair of stars acting as a pair of eyes, and a broad ellipse of stars with a narrow vertical axis acting as the chest. The lower part was a little less well-defined, but the single line of stars below was centrally located under him and in the same axis as the head and neck above the chest such that you could imagine he was standing on a pogo stick. If anyone sees another asterism in this cluster, please let us know.

Kind of reminds me of NGC 437... a jet fighter look.

Hah! I wrote down my observation on this one Friday night and mentioned how it looked like a man (like a mini Hercules const.)

Similar to the Owl Cluster (NGC 457).

Yeah I agree, the Owl Cluster... a typo I made with my earlier post.

No, didn't see the man. But I found the baseball that he hit out of the park during that famous game...
