Hi Folks,

I'm imaging M31 with Kstars/EKOS and my Canon T5/1200D tonight. The FITS images that I'm capturing appear to have color data in the noise when I debayer them, but the stars all appear B&W still. Any suggestions?

I'm getting back into Astrophotography after a short break and I think I'm missing something simple, but I can figure out what it is.

The first 2 FITS from this session can be downloaded from here:

Here's a screenshot from the ASI FITS viewer with debayer applied:

And here's a view of my capture settings in EKOS:

Please let me know if any other info might be helpful.

Tony

First, your gallery images are not public, we can't see them.

How did you create the FITS files?  They are definitely not showing a bayer pattern, so they must have been debayered and converted to grey.

I don't use/have DSLR to try to reproduce or give suggestions.  I do however see that you are binning 2x2.  Have you tried it without binning?

I think I've corrected the permissions on my screenshots. Please let me know if they're still not visible.

The FITS were captured with KStars/EKOS.

I'll test 1x1 binning to see if I continue to have the issue.

Thank you!

In principle binning 2x2 destroys bayer pattern and color in color cameras.
