Hello fellows,
A typical night of using the Starsense Explorer app...
Putting the telescope outside - check
Steady underground - check
Camera setup assistent - On - check
No ambient lighting in the area - check
No obstacles in the view of the camera/mirror/app - check
Moon not too bright - check
No reflections on the backside of the smartphone - check
No dew on the mirror of the dockingstation - check...
...Smartpone camera aligned with mirror dockingstation - check
Alignment app with position telescope - check
App did found his position - check
Choosing the object: M13 - check
Found the object - check
Ready to go!!!
Moving the telescope to follow the arrows....
5 inches later....motion detected / lost track / lost position....
Found position again...moving the telescope 5 inches....motion detected / lost track / lost position...
This, over and over again...untill I do get finally the green sign: object found.
Even worse: This example is the app's best-case scenario so far.
I did move the telescope smoothly and not too fast. (dobsonian mount)
Two questions....
Question one: on Youtube are very positive reviews about this app. So, is it me doing something wrong? (Is there something still missing on the checklist above?)
Second question: other 8 inch Dobsonians are clearly cheaper than the Celestron Starsense Explorer 8 inch dobsonian telescope. I hope this is (also) because of the quality of the scope (compared to the cheaper brands) and not only paying extra money for this (so far) louzy app?
Thank You for Your input and have a splendid day(night)!
My Happy Starsense App...
