I purchased a 497 hand controller with 31E firmware to drive an ETX-90EC unit as suggested by other's here on CN. It did not have ETX-90 on the telescope menu list. So I figured I needed to upgrade the FW, which I did successfully to 43GL. ETX-90 still does not show up.  I visited with a friend a few days ago and his 497 DOES show ETX-90 support. His FW is 43E and he is using his controller to run an ETX-125.  What am I missing?

I have an ETX90EC and it works with all my Autostars. Yes 43E firmware (Eg IIRC). There must be a matching entry in the firmware database. Years ago I remember upgrading a 43E Autostar and something went wrong and I downgraded. Not sure what the problem was.

You can also try one of Dick Seymour's "patch kits" which are Autostar 495/7 firmware releases patched to add features. They can be found on Mike Weasner's ETX knowledge base.

Here are Meade official firmware releases for ROM 4.x -
