Hi All,

Last night's imaging session got wasted because the Ioptron HEM15 was not tracking intermittently. It was tracking for 10-15 exposures. Then seems to have stopped and then tracking again, repeating the cycle multiple times over hours including a meridian flip.

The rig is really simple (canon f=85mm lens) and cable could not catch.

Is there a log file from Ioptron to debug?

Thanks & Clear Skies,

Gert

PS, who was the gentleman on this list who could so nicely debug the PHD guiding?

I once had a power cable (DC barrel plug) that would turn off my CGEM-DX mount if it was rotated in a specific way. Are you sure your cables aren't slipping or having a similar issue to me? My first thought was the mount was losing power occasionally, turning back on and being auto reconnected. If you're on windows, I believe your PHD2 guide logs should be located in documents under PHD2, those might shed some more light as they also contain hardware connects and disconnects.

Hi,

Power cables are a recurring problem for sure. I don't believe in this case it's applicable as the 12V connection is straight down from the mount body to the 12V supply below. No parts of it actually move during any mount tracking/slewing motions, nor does any cable routing from the camera to the laptop ever touch the cable. It just sits there.

Wondering if ioptron mounts have some intermittent issues like this.

This mount has already been to Ioptron service for broken DEC motor controller (out of the box!!) and only recently has come back to me.

Did they break something else??

Clear Skies,
Gert
