Hey guys.  My Tasco 6te has a severely warped (twisted) wooden tripod leg (the center beam).  It works fine, but the grooves and pins become totally mis-aligned when trying to collapse for storage, resulting in the pins digging into the wood around the groove.

Has anyone else experienced this, and if so do you have solutions to remedy the warp?  I'm about to simply make replica legs to replace the old ones using the vintage hardware.

Yes the dark brown stained wood legs on a NOS Milben click-zoomer I picked up were warped (one item out of a lot of four). The mark was Towa. Hit or miss, as often with Towa.

The center beam could be stripped and soaked and clamped to something straight to dry over a month or so. That's how pianos are made smile.gif

I'll give that a shot.

You can get lengths of aluminum L-channel at Home Depot or Lowes. 1" x 1" plus a few carpenter clamps. Get the wood soaking wet in a bath of very hot water. Of course all finish must be removed.
