I have a chance to buy this OTA for $100 bucks. I would have to build a base, I did one for the 6" dob, and that is not a problem.

I already have Orion XT10.

What I need from you is the reasons why I need to pass this deal?smile.gif smile.gif

Think about it, that XT10 would make the most incredible hood ornament for your vehicle!! Everybody in town would look and point as you drive by.

Who needs social media when you have this Golden Opportunity to be your own self-proclaimed, once-in-a-lifetime "Town Clown."

Like Nike says, "Just Do It!"

I own an 8" and 12" Dob and they do tend to take up quite a bit of space in my astro-arsenal of a scope room. Therefore, even if someone were trying to give me another Dob of similar size I probably wouldn't take it unless it were significantly better than the ones I already owned.

That'd be my logical reason for passing.... but I'm human so rarely logical in my decision-making  The Z10 will come with a cooling fan and 2x speed Crawford style focuser, both of which may be an improvement over a stock XT10.

Uh... Well, I personally can vouch for the Zhumell 10"!!! I would buy it, cause, well, why not? I got mine for $400 off of Facebook and I would pay 4x as much for it!!! It could be your spare or something, or you could host star parties!!! You can also motorize it and take pictures with it... Oh my, so many options!!!

Just buy it. $100 is the biggest steal I have ever seen for a Dob.

Is your plan to build the Dob base and sell the OTA plus base for $600? Not bad for two weekends of work.

10 inch Dob binoscope? It can be done. I have viewed throughh a fellow's 17 inch twin Dobs connected as a binoscope at the TSP.

I'm not planning to sell it,LOL. I am a terrible businessman. I am a teacher after all. grin.gif

But a binoscope! Now, this is what I call an idea.

A 10" binoscope would be pretty wild to have/use, and an interesting/challenging build project, too. My first thought though (not to be such a Negative Nancy, but your thread title is to convince you to not get the Zhumell OTA), is that your XT10 primary is f/4.7 (iiuc) but the Zhumell’s primary is f/5…

Yes, convince me not to buy it. All these guys are failing in their job!smile.gif

F/4.7 and f/5.0 would not work, huh. Didn't think of that. Anyway, I want to get it but the reasonable voice in my head says "why do you need another 10" telescope?" It is so hard!

Sent an email to guy. “I’m just going to look at it , not buy it!”
This is what I’m telling myself while thinking of a way to tell my wife.

find a beginner in a club and convince them they should buy it and that you'll help build a base for it. then you will have an observing buddy.
