I made several scans but just want to post what I have so far. Will post an update when I stack the several scans. This sol'ex is dangerous, once you get it lined up, everything focused, all check marks in place, it makes alot of wonders, especially at a very low cost (doesn't break the bank). I used my LS60 f/7 scope. The other sol'ex images were from an Esprit 80ED F/5. I also used the ASI174mm when i captured all the data

Great shot with that huge filament that is in the south.

The stacking didn't come out right. I have to avoid that vertical line in the slit at all cost while scanning the h-alpha line which is horizontal. Some of the images came out with a black line like the one above. You can kinda see it also at the bottom of this pic, its a white line, in the photo below (like the one above) its horizontal but during scanning, that line is actually vertical. Software re-oriented the sun during the processing. With my ASI174mm, it just barely fits in the slit. I think i should get a 178 then?

I had a line through an image once related to a bird flying past.  Super high detail in your image.  The Sol'Ex is a really fun piece of equipment.  :)

Yes Larry, thank you for helping me get to where I got to with my Sol'ex. It is fun but also tedious at the same time. What makes it more challenging in my situation is the fact that my dec is manual control and I have to center the sun in the slit each time I do a scan since my eq mount is not perfectly aligned to polaris

I went back out and did another (20) scans, only (9) came out good. The rest looked like the black hole was next to the sun. Here's the stack of (9) images of the positive and negative:

Love the images - please keep posting as many as possible, and any tips on build and usage.

I'm very interested in the Sol'ex concept as a next level challenge

Archibald no problem ask me anything and I'll try to help. Send me a private message. I'm still new to this but am learning quick. I'll keep posting. Will do some scans tomorrow. I'm tapped out and done for today.

If you want to get started read this site:

You have to buy the shelyak optics solar kit and also buy the v2 kit from azur3dprint site. These are all from europe
