Decided to try some outreach on the 31st for the first time ever. I set up my LX6 out in the driveway and debated pulling out my AR102 as well.

I did not expect to be too successful as trick or treat activity in my neighborhood is usually low. But at the same time I didn't expect it to be this low! Only had 2 families pass by with their kids. Told them I didn't have candy but I did have cool things for them to check out. Given that it was on a school night, I shut down by about 9.00

Next year it falls on a Friday, I think. So will give it another try then.

I've set up my smallest Dob, a 6" Orion SkyQuest XT6, in my front yard a number of times over the years and have been able to show trick-or-treaters the Moon, Jupiter, or Saturn but it was cloudy this year.

Consider a mention in the newspaper, many times free. Be ready though, have members of a possible club you belong to bring a couple of their 'scopes, too.

I see a trend among parents, of attending organized Halloween events rather than walking the streets; perhaps out of a sense of security. Outreach at one of those events might work.
