Hello to everyone
I personally never used the snap port.
I just use either the internal intervalometer of my camera (Nikon, exposures 30s and below) or an external intervalometer (for longer than 30s).
As far as I understand, for the snap port you need to use a cable and the SynScan app (which has an option to act as an intervalometer).
unfortunatly canon don't have the internal intervalometer.
Canon M3 on the body have just a 3.5 jack that is used for microphone and usb that can be used just to transfer pictures on the pc or to a printer...unfortunately that camera don't even support the remote shutter from the Eos utility software on windows, that is what i have read searching on internet.
only way to activate from remote the shutter is using the rc6 IR remote..that is very basic or using the app on android by canon "camera connect" that in this case just let you have a view of the live view and change settings like iso, shutter speed or aperture...is not even possible change from AV to M to TV
The M3 doesn't support remote shutter via the USB socket.
I can't tell what kind of cable the Snap Port requires.
very sad that they don't give to a camera a very basic function...very sad years for canon these years...It really seems like they wanted to disgust the world of mirrorless cameras
so i think that to start with astrophotography i will use my Canon 50d and i will buy that one:

and should work ok with the intervalometer that i will set on the star adventure gti ?
