I am pretty sure that I will be moving to Johnstown very soon, and the place I am moving is not going to be very good for my astro hobby due to trees.  And honestly, not sure if the neighborhood is all that safe.  But, I don't really want to completly get out of my hobby.  So, I was was wondering if their any clubs in the Johnstown area.

Yea, I knew about the one in Altoona.  But I don't drive, and it would cost me over 50 dollars with an uber to get there.  I'll have to see what I can find.

See if the club has Zoom meetings. Our clubs started doing that during Covid. We still do Zoom meetings to accommodate members who, like you, can't get to meetings or live too far away. Over time, you might get to know some people who could drive you to the club's star parties and dark sites.

Altoona, Pittsburgh and Oil Region are all in the area, but not close if you don't drive.  AAAP and ORAS both do zoom meetings and have active list serv channels.  AAAP also has discord.

I lived in Oil City till I was a bit after 9 years old.  Oil  City and Franklin pennsylvania.  Pit hole is near there also.  I imagine viewing the sky there would not be bad, especially went you got a little out of the city.  They use to skim oil off the creek before drake well.

ORAS has an observatory outside of Emlenton in Cranberry Township.  Nice facility.  We have a weekend star party every year..

Try the Central Pennsylvania Observers in State College too.

The Altoona club is nearer and very active, they have an observatory at Fort Roberdeau.
