Just couldn't put this in  the ads  thread   

  okay somebody thought it was a great lamp idea

    I am just curious as to what  the mount is?

Looks like a Vixen Super Polaris, in the black livery that used to be sold with the Super Polaris C8.

Yeah it’s an SP. But the tripods aren’t teak.

It's not dead it's just pining for the canals of Mars! Vixen Super Polaris with Hands-On Optics legs? That can be saved and you can even make another lamp with the lamp parts!

Legs look original, they're the same shade as on my SP tripod. I don't think they're teak, too light for that.

I purchased that mount with a Celestron C8, and 1/2 dozen eye pieces, and some books for roughly half that. Four years ago, so not that far back. Lamp isn't worth that much.

I guess perspective buyers of similar taste will have to settle for lamps made out of driftwood.
