Hello again folks.
I just love posting stuff on CN, due to the wonderful Help. Ok, so for those who know me for my new posts, or not, i've made up my mind on the XT10 for sure. So, now i'm looking at some good eyepieces for it. :D

I wanted to know to go for the Orion's EDII, or the Orion Highlights. The Orion EDII has a FoV of 55, and the Highlights have a FoV of 52. So i just want to buy the better quality of the bunch. The one's that will give the "best" overall seeing / quality. Hmm, the one that will give the most brighest, most clear image.

I'm also thinking between the Orion Deep View's or the Optilux. I couldn't find any real good reviews on those ep's. I've been looking more towards the Deep Views, due to the cost. You can buy two deep views for the price of one Optilux. I plan on going to Telavue in the future, but right now the budget is tight.
______
Ok, this is the list i'm looking twords.

Thanks again for the help guys,

I have the 40mm Optilux and I give it two thumbs up. Have not looked through the Deep Views. TV plossls are also very good.

I'd recommend you try some different ones at a star party first. Buy one or to now just to get yourself going but hold off on building a big kit until you can try some different units out.

Robert,

I don't think you're going wrong with the highlight plossls, but the 20mm with that shorty plus barlow will give you a 10mm ep with better eyerelief than the ultrascopic. So you may want to skip that ultrascopic for now, as it's backordered anyway. As for the deepview eyepieces, I think you'd be better off skipping both of them, and either getting the 40mm optiluxe, or the GSO 30 & 42mm eps from Owl-services on ebay.

I have a few of the deepviews; 28, 35, & 42mm, they don't sell the 28 anymore. The GSO eps are much better at the edges, as well as brighter.

Hope this helps,

Not one ortho amongst the bunch...shame, shame, shame. For a 1200fl 10" dob, I recommend the 7mm, 9mm and 12.5mm orthos (HD or classic). I can consistently use the 7mm due to sky conditions...which *bleep* around here, as I'm sure you've noticed.

I agree with Ron. Get the Barlow for sure and try other's eyepieces until you know what you want...and then get them used from astromart.

Have you driven up to Sean's and looked at the Hardin 10"? They have a 12" also.

Nope. Haven't made the trip up to Sean's lately Tom. I think i was there last September. How good is the Hardin compared to the Orion? Also, what about the Astrola Eyepieces. They have a 2" Ep in sizes 40mm, 32mm, and 26mm. It looks like a nice set. If they will provide better "views" then the Deepviews, then i'd buy those.

The reason why i wanted to go with the 10mm Ultrascopic is because of the quality. When the time come for good seeing, i wanted a good EP for a low cost. I have a 10mm Sirus, and my friend has the 10mm Ultrascopic. Hands down, on the Untrascopic. Lookout for Erik. He's right. :D The Sirus has the fishbowl look to it, and barlowed, it's worse. The Ultrascopic keeps the nice flat view. That was tested in my friends XT10.

S&T did a review of the Hardin 10" Dob and there is also one here on Cloudy Nights in the reviews section. Other than a rough mirror, S&T like the scope. Just a suggestion anyway...the Orion is a good scope.

I saw the 12" Hardin at Sean's last month and really liked it.

Yep, Ultrascopics are a fine breed.I own one now, recommended by Erik.It is a great ep, tack sharp, very good contrast, nice eyerelief (its the 5mm).A bit expensive though in Belgium, but worth :jump: while..

the astrola 2" ep's are very soft, the deep views are actually slightly better. but i wouldn't recommend either one. there's a reason the optiluxe is twice the price, it's much better!! actually, even if it was 3x the price, it'd still be worth it. you don't really need two 2" ep's anyway, the 40mm optiluxe will serve your purpose well in an xt10. i like all of the other choices, you can't go wrong with the ultrascopics, shorty plus barlow, or the highlight plossls. stay away from the epic ED ep's, some people like them, but as well documented, they do have a blacking out problem...
