My mount is a CQ-350 and there are multiple ports to connect a USB or RJ45 to. I am confused about which is best to use. Skywatcher tech support recommends I use an EQmod cable ( USB to RJ45) and plug it into the bottom of the hand controller. They say the USB on the mount is unreliable for mount control and should just be used for firmware upgrades.
The mount has some poor guiding plots, and he thinks it’s a communication problem. Fine – I ordered the EQmod cable but while I wait for it, I have additional questions:
• Has anyone connected a PC to the USB port on the mount and used EQmod and PHD2 for guiding?
• If I connect the PC to the USB port on the mount, does the hand controller need to be unplugged?
• If I used the EQmod cable, what driver settings do I select in the EQmod setup?
• At the bottom of the hand controller, there is an RJ45 port and a USB port. I have been told to plug the EQmod cable into the RJ45 port at the bottom of the hand controller. Couldn’t I also just use the USB port at bottom of the hand controller.
Thank you
