This is my first attempt at M31.

Scope:  Astrotech 60ed w/ 0.8 reducer

Mount:  ZWO AM5

Camera:  ASI533MC

Filters:  UV/IR, Optolong L-Ultimate

Processing in PI and PS

Site:  Atlanta, Bortle ~8

Subs:

Broadband:  Baader UV/IR CUT Luminance (CMOS Optimized) 2": 207×180″(10h 21′)
   Narrowband:  Optolong L-Ultimate 2": 80×300″(6h 40′)

There is not a lot of narrowband in M31, but you can see some nebulae in there.  I'm pretty happy with this now.  There are some parts I'll quibble with, but that's a problem for the next attempt.  I'm putting this version to bed.

Thank you for looking!

Thats an excellent imasge- well done!

When you write not much narrow band in M31 that may be true for OIII and SII however, there is a lot of HA that can be captured- M31 is qute rich in HA. Very long integration times have also revealed a band of OIII that is not normally revealed. I guess a lot of targets may have hidden gems if we expose long enough.

Wow. This is way better than anything I’ve ever been able to do. Great work.

That’s a really nice capture. You balanced the Ha well, mine always seems to overpower the image when I blend it in. Nice job.

Wow, awesome rendition! ...and the star-like nucleus is still (barely) visible!!!

You might not realize it but, as a nice bonus, you also visibly captured 60+ globular clusters within M31.

Now, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to track them all down and label them with their appropriate numbers.

Funny, I actually started that with the first nights subs. When I was still looking through eyepieces, I used to track down as many of them as I could visually. It’s crazy how many of them are visible so far away.
