Can any tech savvy people help me with this problem?  I can't take sky flats while it's still twilight because, instead of seconds, my remote mini pc  is taking minutes to save each image!

I have a high storage USB stick, a fast one on it.  It has lots of space.  For some reason, time ticks away and the twilight fades, while trying to take 30 flats at NINA dynamic exposure.

Is it the USB stick?

Should I save instead to the mini hard drive?  This isn't gonna work.

What mini pc? I would just have it save on to the PC's hard drive and then copy/paste it on to the USB stick after.

Save locally first and move afterwards.

By fast do you mean USB3.0?, and is the stick plugged into a USB 3.0 slot on the PC.

Another possibility are the files be virus scanned?

What camera, how big are the files and how is it connected to the mini pc. My 52mb image files only take a second or two over USB2 to download to a laptop hard drive. Some USB sticks come with bloatware that purportedly manages the transfer of files, I would be tempted to just reformat the drive, after first copying any files you want to retain, and try again, or probably better just save direct to mini pc and copy later.

It's a Quieter 3.

It's just puzzling to me.  I Used the rig "remotely" in my driveway here at home.  The USB stick had no issues "saving" the flats/flat darks in real time, and they took me 15 minutes perhaps.  I commanded the mini pc "remotely" from my desktop in the house so that I wouldn't have to stand out there with an iPad.

For whatever reason, this method is now taking forever with the scope about 200 miles away.  But yes, of course I will try saving to the mini hard disk, which has plenty of space, and then after the files are transferred to my home desktop, which also takes forever now, I can erase the files on the mini.

yes.  USB 3.0

Hmmm, don't know if the files are virus scanned.

Quieter 3 mini.  The USB stick is plugged into the hub on my ASI2600MM camera down at the dark site.  I will try this next time saving to the mini hard disc.  I can certainly do that.  This USB method worked perfectly on a simi "remote" Remote Desktop connection to it back here at home when the rig was out in my driveway at night.

My equipment is ~75 feet away.

But my saves go from NINA into my Samsung SSD T7 2TB straight from the computer.

So far, it has been the fastest I've found.

Not all USB sticks or cards are built the same.

When I was doing a lot of imaging (not space) I found USB cards could be slow as molasses in January. So, I shopped for the fastest USB cards I could put in my DSLR.

Do you know the Latency of the drive you have plugged in?

Maybe it has something to do with your configuration?

Maybe if you are seeing the image on your display, it is slowing down the storage process transferring it back and forth.

I have NINA just storing straight to my SSD. But sometimes it seems kind of delayed, which I figure is the speed of my WiFi varying.

(I'm sure you are using wire of satellite for yours. Mine is within walking distance. OK, tottering distance then.)

Try a different USB stick.  When memory chips start to fail, they get slower and slower with all the error correction going on.

Sometimes the "inexpensive" USB sticks (and SSDs) fail in relatively short times.

A "bargain" isn't always such a bargain.

Anybody still see this post?

My Mele Quieter 3 mini pc, which is perched atop my rig at a remote site 200 miles distant, can still not save images in a timely manner.  Last evening, trying to take sky flats, the camera and NINA flat wizard were quickly finding exposures for the diminishing light, but when the screen showed  "saving image", that took well over a minute for each frame!  I only got to 9 frames before the light was gone.

What would cause this?  I ran a "disc check" on the mini.  No errors.  I am saving the subs directly to the pc hard disc instead of the USB device.  No help.  Today I will remotely connect to the pc and run a memory check on it.

This is mini pc that is most often used on scopes.  I don't hear of anyone else having this issue.  Why am I so lucky??

Camera is ASI 2600MM.  FITS files, which is typical.  Files now saved directly to mini disc, not helping.  Camera is taking images just fine.  NINA flat wizard is finding correct exposures for flats and lengthening them for lessening light after sunset.

What else should I try?
