Hello! Yesterday I bought these at a pawn shop for AU$25 and wondered if anyone had any info on them - besides the obvious at any rate. There's a stamp inside the carry case that seems to read 1970 - I'm assuming that's the year of manufacture? They're pretty clear despite a dent on the left hand side, with a slight yellowish tint to the lenses. Any information would be appreciated - I've found precious little online. Are they a good pair for what I paid?

They're pretty clear despite a dent on the left hand side, with a slight yellowish tint to the lenses.

I have a later pair from the year 1984, which I like a lot. My pair also has the yellowish tint to the lenses.

For daytime viewing I have  pale blue filters fitted over the objective ends which have removed the yellow

tint from the views.

I also did this to a pair of Nikon 9x35 that was giving yellowish/brown tints when used during the day,

now they work fine.

I would never have considered putting filters on - I'm not much of an optics aficionado. I'll look into it! Which filter, specifically, do you use?

For my eyes, Japanese made Hoya 82B or 82C work well. I'm lucky in that I know a guy that deals

in second-hand photography equipment and I can pick up equipment at very good prices. I usually

pay about 50 pence to £1 for filters in the U.K,  so I can experiment without having to lay out much

money.

Hi.

These look a lot like the binos my parents bought in Canada in the mid-1960s. The yellow tinge is characteristic. The AFOV is quite large, sharpness is very good but contrast is degraded because of poor stray light control. Still, I am glad I inherited those...

From what I can tell, the logo on the leather case says "Binokul" or something to that effect...

I remember as a young kid in the 1970s looking at soviet liner Alexander Pushkin anchored in the bay in front of our house through these, thinking this was cool...
