Looking to get an autofocuser for my c8 and not sure what works. Any suggestions are appreciated

An eaf will be just fine. I use one on my Edge11HD and it works just fine. Make sure that you test to see how much backlash compensation you will need.

they have adapters for the C8 1989-1998 then you can buy a Gemini AEF 124$  or ZWO EAF for 360$ ish...

The EAF can be had for about 150 USD at Astronomics and the necessary adapter appears to be about 50 USD at Buckeyestargazer. So, unless I have the currency incorrect, it looks like it costs just a few USD to get a supported focuser. I think if you like to use aliexpress you can get the Gemini for less than 80USD plus shipping. Don't know how long it takes to get it though.
