Has anyone use Super Lube on telescope drives, gears and such?

The product has been about for awhile, I just found it in a trade magazine

I brought a tube and yet tested out. What is nice it's food grade.

I've used it in a small gearbox and it worked well. I've heard silicone is 'impossible' to clean off optics but have never had to deal with that problem.

Another great lube with PTFE in a thin vehicle is Tri-Flow. This flows into tight spots by capillary action and is miraculous. It certainly doesn't smell like it is food grade however!

I had a very noisy garage door that was rendered almost silent by applying TriFlow to the hinges.

Been using it on my mounts for several years. It really works well inside the gear boxes too.

Be aware, there's another tube that looks very similar but has silicone in it - you don't want to use that one on your astro stuff.

SuperLube is often recommended in the Losmandy circles. I haven't needed to switch out greases (no high or low temps here) and haven't used the mount enough to warrant a second full teardown and clean. Considering these things don't have a shelf life, I should probably pick up a tube for the future.

Just don't use PTFE containing products in an automobile engine. I think many Astro-Physics mount owners have used Super Lube also. I have not had to do any of my mounts yet as previous owners have regreased all of my mounts.
