I searched throughout and couldn’t find anything classic.

I am sure all that stuff sold before 1990 back when scopes were scopes and Meade was Meade.

I'm betting it'll go to someone planning to list everything on ebay and ship out of a warehouse.

Wonder if former employees can bid? I can see someone with deep pockets buying the bulk of this and opening up a new store. Too bad it's pick up only, I could sure use a few of those green laser pointers and brackets.

I am close enough that I can rent a local U-Haul truck sized according to my winnings and drive it round-trip.
Just need to win the next Lotto jackpot first.

It will be interesting to figure out what is in the boxes. The descriptions really do not provide a lot of information. I am sure there are some treasures in there. Maybe some really nice APO scopes.

A lot of new items with no warranties, so it'll be interesting to see what they sell for when they get relisted by the winner(s)

The sheer amount of lots available for sale would lead me to believe that some of them are going to go for pennies on the dollar. Like cavedweller said, I am seriously considering renting a box truck. I have registered and It's only a 14 hour round trip, and I'm off four days a week, so I have the time. Cash money is my only problem, but if pressed I could probably come up with 5k. Convincing my wife that it would be a good investment is what will ultimately tank this pipe dream.

a scan of the list shows the ACF scopes have a lot of watchers and the few APO scopes have a lot of watchers. So the bidding will be interesting. In some cases there are several of each in the same lot. People like the guy that runs the telescope warehouse in Los Vegas I am sure will be bidding. Some local guys here in DC will be very interested in flipping this gear. A shame it is so far away being in CA. I am sure the local folks in CA are drooling hoping the score a great deal. There is a lot of junk for sale and a lot of parts. A ton of binoculars. Will be interesting to watch.

Really sad to see.

I wonder how many of those lots are items that were returned for service that the owners will never see again?

I worked for a small computer company that closed. Those customers had to file a claim and they, along with other creditors, received a share of the liquidation revenue after the auction.

I think that is a hideous miscarriage of justice. The company did not own those items. If it was the law I would say that the lawmakers were remiss.

There's enough inventory so that if someone buys the bulk of it cheaply, and then starts dumping it online for prices that undercut current retail, to move it quickly, then it could cut into sales from remaining stores like Astronomics, Agena, Highpoint, etc., for a few months. It may not be a huge hit to any one of them, but could be enough to push some of them close to the edge of being able to hold on.
I think Agena bought out the remains of OPT, but there they were dealing with many common brands that are still around, except the TPO stuff. It's hard to imagine a store picking up a lot of Orion branded gear and doing anything with it. Agena was a Meade/Coronado dealer, so they could perhaps go for some of those lots. But even then, they can't offer a warranty or service, which isn't like them. Still, it might be better to get something out of the mess, rather than letting some eBay seller lowball them into a zero-profit quarter.

I hope a lot of this stuff end up on Telescope Warehouse. That guy is great, and he specializes in old Meade gear. He'll even communicate with you directly. Remember Dan Rathman's Astronomy Mall? Man I miss that place. I found 2 nearly unobtainable counterweights with a 7/8" bore for my LXD650.

Also forklifts and tape machines and inventory stairs - not to mention an old C8 collimator setup complete with eyepieces

If you could get 10 new SCTs you could keep a couple and probably ten-tuple your outlay.

I'm keeping my hopes and dreams in check until I see what the bidding looks like. There has to be some meat on the bone in order to make it worth anybody's while. We'll just have to wait and see...

At least pick and keep the most freaky sharp 1.
