Are we now in the era of "since Questars are no longer made they're going to be worth 33% more"?:

But is it a real guide scope that was made as a guide scope with the ring savers built onto the tube? Or just a 3" Unitron OTA?
Just a 3" Unitron OTA.

That 3” finder scope on eBay sold for 350. Shipped with tax. First one I have seen.
that was a 60mm scope

They are very rare as is the 4" Guide scope.

Here's one of those ads I'm linking to in hopes that someone else will buy it so I don't have to figure out where I'd put it! It's arguably not a classic, yet, unless it was made early in production, but it seems cool. A 12" Johnsonian Designs dob: https://losangeles.c...7815473350.html
Ugly and crude, but could be improved, if the optics merit it.

Edmund reflector (6 inch?) on metal EQ mount with finder, in Amber PA. $50
No pics of optics.
That is the Deluxe Space Conqueror or DSC, 4.25" reflector original 5/8" shaft mount and a very nice looking one. The later version in the series. No doubt worth the asking price if it has the optics.
There was a very recent posting of one East coast for $25 that needed some resto refurb but looking complete and easy to do for use.
Both of those are later versions by the setting circles. The early ones had more durable thick setting circles. I think the later thin ones are more 'cool' and in need of preservation. The thin ones are more prone to destruction.

Probably the best of the classic Pentax doublet refractors in terms of the tradeoff between aperture and portability, the 85x1000, currently at $257 with 2 days to go. Includes the box, diagonal, sun screen and rod, finder, a 1.25" converter, and rings. These hardly ever come up.

Another rarity, the Pentax 105x700 EDHF, currently at $552 with 2 days left. Needs some cleaning.
https://zenmarket.jp...ode=v1167450042
And the less portable Pentax 100 is back up, at $363 with 4 days to go. Missing the finder, but has the guide scope. It's gone around a couple of times already, so it might not bid up much.

Did you see his Losmandy Titan rig? Wow, that's the first EQ Meade 16" I've seen! Hard to get a sense of scale. It's like 8 C8s

The Johnsonian Designs dobs were ulra portable, lightweight carbon fiber truss telescopes. I know the larger ones were Goto.
I've never had one. Several I've seen for sale had high end optics.
Ive had two Johnsonian tracking platforms. They were both nicely engineered of billited aluminum or carbon fiber. I used my Type IV with a 15" Discovery sono tube dob and it was sweet.
I remember early model Johnsonian Designs truss dobs needed some tweaking to get right.
Ugly and crude, but could be improved, if the optics merit it.

Ouch on my back slapping it on my mount.

Needs a AP1200 or 1600. Think how scary that would be fighting it in the D plate holder with it's big OD and bulk.

Price drop on this older Tasco.
https://www.facebook...ef-abc667bef762
Was only 60 now it's 40. It's like a 1/2 hour from me, but I don't need another. And I don't like the way the tripod, mount, and telescope fold up to go into the box. It's pick up only, and easily worth the price.
I believe this is from the late 50's.
(If it's around too much longer, I'll probably get it.)

Go grab it! Sell the parts! That's OK! OTA and part out the rest. Yes it's definitely 50s I think - might be really good!

I'm just not one for parting out scopes. I guess that's why I have some scopes that are incomplete.

Am I the only one thinking that this one is about $250 over the price that should be asked?
https://www.ebay.com...m/155621690392
It is for a Spacek 4" reflector. I believe it is a K-4.
It is in outstanding shape but, not that outstanding! There is another telescope partially seen which reminds me of an early Criterion 4" reflector, maybe?

He must have been taking some serious heat on that one. LOL
Maybe it will come back at a more reasonable price. After all, it was in very nice condition.
It's interesting that his only other offering is a 5 pound bag of nickel balls for $70.00.
It kind of makes one wonder. LOL
Just to keep this legit, here is a nice little Monolux #4348 that may be of interest to someone: https://tinyurl.com/ym7r288c

So I think this guy is being a little optimistic:
https://www.cloudyni...classicvintage/
It's a "homade" Meade Research Grade reflector for $1500. The Novak items are a plus, but if I'm shelling out $1500, I would want the real thing.

I would do that if F/6 and half the weight. No way i would wanna deal with that heavy OTA. It is not so much the weight but the 16" OD tube and trying to hold on to it while trying to get them silly ring studs in the tiny holes in the saddle. Laying it in open rings is much more easy.

That's a lot for just the OTA. It's like things I've had here but that's not me. The MRG mount doesn't like that size OTA, and it is very awkward to handle. 12.5" mirrors are much better suited to much thinner walled 14" tubes.

Without any specs or other information that is a wishful price

Looks like an 8 inch Meade plus for $200
Chas alert! 1980s Meade LX3! Or is it a 2080? It might be freaky sharp! Roll the dice man!
