His restoration is really excellent; he hasn't left anything to do,  except a transit case for the mount. At star parties,it will be recognized as a wonderful archetype of a telescope that has inspired so much clip art, and more importantly, the generation that enabled space travel.

It came with these 0.965" eyepieces:

Mizar HM12.5mm, HM9mm,

Mizar K.25mm, Mizar K.20mm.

H6mm possibly Vixen,

OR.6mm Vixen,

SR4mm (maker's mark unknown to me).

The Huygens bring back childhood memories. The 4mm Ramsden is worse than my memories. The Kellners are easy to use, if not optically ultimate. The 6mm ortho is a challenge only to the general public. They must be kept together for the historical record.

But, the scope did come with the Vixen 1.25" holder. For a  modest outlay, what modern eyepieces would you add to show how good and how much fun this scope really is?

Plossls are an enormous upgrade for the classics. Make sure your baffles are set for 1.25"! You may get vignetting otherwise.

But honestly, I more enjoy 24.5mm eyepieces - Kellners and Orthos. It's the classic experience.

Let me put it this way;  when i put a Celestron ortho 25mm into a 60mm Tasco using a 1-1/4 inch to 0.96 adapter, I thought I'd been transported to another dimension.  I went from Huygen's horrors to that and it was a revelation.

I, too, really enjoy using my 24.5mm eyepieces in my classic, long focal length refractors, which came with them as standard equipment. For example, my Sears 90mm f/15.6 still has its five original, color-coded 24.5mm oculars in its original rotating turret. Great fun to use!

But when I really want to unleash the power of the mighty 90mm achromatic objective, I pop in one of my Nikon, Takahashi or Pentax .965 eyepieces. For the solar system and double star observing I like to do, these little guys provide the sharpest possible views. I love ‘em!
