Probably a response to the SW scope, which is priced a whole lot less. ;)

SW is 76, to some it is cheaper than Lunt equivalent but still a pricey option, why not SW making something in 40-60 aperture range so we don't have to pay over $1k, for me the Quark is cheaper in that case because i can connect it with many sizes apertures and it works, Lunt won't make that LS40 Hybrid any cheaper and i am not interested in that 40mm if it is over $1k.

The new Acuter 40mm Elite Phoenix is a SW product under a new brandname ... wink.gif

Hopefully they replaced the stock helical focuser, which cannot support a binoviewer and has reduced in-focus than the expensive FT upgrade.  Note that I've just posted a topic about working around the Lunt Wobble.

“Watch this Space - LS40mm Hybrid”

Dan

Thanks for the heads-up. Instead of pre-ordering (when available), I sent in a cancel request for my existing Lunt 40 order. I want to keep my options open.

Why do skywatcher change their brand name, is it re-branded?

Also, it is looked like cheap design, and yet it is still expensive, i can't imagine Lunt making new 40 any cheaper anyway, in the past Coronado PST wasn't that much, but it sounds anything about solar is expensive no matter what, even Daystar SS60 isn't cheap, but it is way cheaper than Lunt or Coronado or even Skywatcher of 60mm, and their DS version is affordable, i still not sure i will get one, but if i want a DS if i can't find an etalon of 50-60mm size to pair it with my Quark for less than $1200 then i won't search elsewhere, SS60DS all the way.

Consider the More Blue focuser as a more affordable alternative to the FT.

That’s the only one they make.  I understand it will work with the proper adapter.  I’d check with Ted at Hutech to be sure before you order.  It’s one of only a tiny number of small 1.25 focusers I have seen.  Again, please check compatibility with Ted before ordering.

The question is, why did you suggest this one? Can't we use anything else another brands 3rd parties even and it can do the job? From eBay and Aliexpress [not sue about Amazon] i could see many different focusers 1.25"/2" single and dual speeds for refractors and reflectors.

I suggested it because I have purchased and used multiple More Blue products and have found all of them to be of outstanding quality, workmanship, and functionality.  I also have worked with Ted at Hutech since I first entered this hobby back in the last century and have found him to be honest and knowledgeable.  Can’t say that for shopping for a no name or clone name product on eBay or especially AliExpress.  And I also said check with him to see if it will fit your Lunt.

Hutech is the Borg distributor for the US and they use several different types of helical focusers on their scopes.  Since the Lunt comes with a helical and I have seen at least one Lunt with a Borg helical added to it, I made the suggestion.

Bad David! Bad David!

Hi Dave,

I'm going to change the stock helical focuser with the COMA helical focuser from Adriano Lolli.  It should arrive soon.

Cheers,

Clark

Did you happen to find any that fit a Lunt 50 that's not a pos helical?

I don't have any Lunt Ha, just wanted to learn more so if one day i decided on one or that new one then i should know what to do about focuser, and also asking that so to learn more brands or manufacturers who can make focusers if i want to replace something of my scopes when i can't afford the high end ones.

Interesting. Base price in the States will be about $900. Three different models, including what they claim will be a very narrowband (sub-0.4A) double stack.
Are we seeing the start of a range of premium air-spaced scopes with bandwidths below the typical 0.5A double stack?

There is nothing wrong per se with a helical focuser, as long as it’s a GOOD helical focuser. As a long time Borg owner, I have never had an issue with one of their’s.
