Thank you for your time. You didn't have to bother with post-processing...

Must be a problem in cropping, converting or Siril settings.

Did you Convert images to .FITS??
(Also Simb. Link and Debayer checked at me).

Which part you are cropped and did you check normalize?
I tried to be very aggressive on the first sequence crop (same lake your finish crop), but stacking not work.

And btw, How do you see statistics of all images? I only know for single image.

How I do it:

  • Registration: Global star, Homography, Star pairs: 4, Inter.clamping, 492 processed, 205 of 287 registered.
  • Sequence tab. I selected the area with the mouse. Base name, choose Fits, Export sequence.

After that Search sequence and select cropped. Go to Stacking tab and setting like in post #1.

I convert dng to FITS with the debayer button checked. Sym link will do nothing here.

The crop looks like that:

test.jpg

I register in two pass. Checking the "relax PSF check" in the dynamic PSF dialog.

It looks that you're @lock042 from Siril team shocked.gif

Ok, I created a video, shortest I could (3:26 min)
At beginning I show some settings and program version.

https://youtu.be/_y8...?feature=shared

After first fail stacking, at 2:32 min start again and uncheck many of the last (bad) pictures in sequence to correspond your number, then register again. Stacking fail.

At 1:07 min I Show what register do. From normal images made a weird tilted images.

I have to admit that I'm currently using the “dev” version of Siril.

That said, you should use two-step global registration.
Instead of exporting the cropped sequence, you have a "crop sequence" option in the right click menu.

At this stage, I only had one "MAD is null" image.

Thanks for right click->"crop sequence", it is very useful.

I tried to install the dev version, read manual, but I don't know. I downloaded siril-master.zip with source, but it seems must have other external programs to run that source...

Is it worth trying to install dev version, can be that repair my problem?

I tried "Two Pass Global Star" registration like you told me...

I can't believe that not work for me,  because I built a new PC before few months ago...

Also, I not see anywhere that you confirmed your stacking settings:

Method : Average stacking with rejection.
Normalisation : Additive with scaling.
Rejection : Winsorized Sigma Clipping

So, we are considering that it implies.

There is a stacking tab/page in the program.  That's how you stack the image.  It's pretty basic info if you are stacking.

So, the program have all that tabs, Calibration, Registration, Stacking tabs... And when hold mouse pointer on every menu, it show help window. I know that.

I'm saying that's where you find the stacking settings.  You said you don't know where to find them. "Also, I not see anywhere that you confirmed your stacking settings:"

No no. I didn't said that I couldn't find the tab.

That means that I told @lock042 that he didn't tell his current settings in the stacking tab. He doesn't confirm that he have same stacking settings like mine.
Thanks. Sorry for misunderstanding.

We can see MAD data on first picture converted, no need to stacking.

@lock042, do you have installed normal version which is not "dev" to try to convert just one pic? I don't know run dev ver.

Did you have stack settings (Method/rejection/Normalization) like mine?

Look how my other sessions have MAD without cropping and this problem session with crop, not have MAD.

If no ideas anymore, we can conclude that Siril is an unstable program and it works differently for each user.

For each user stacking is different.

Siril is a deterministic program. The only variable that is not deterministic is the user.

I did everything like you, but it doesn't work for me, even with a new fast pc.

If you have a suggestion with some settings, I can try and create a video.

Thanks.

Did you do it with the dev version? I don't think so.

I don't have the time to test with 1.2.6.

@lock042 I created a video, just for you. 2 min.

Tnx

At first step you choose as a reference an image where the statistic failed. This is an error.
Then, you try to stack before applying registration data while a dialog tries to warn you.

Wouldn't it also be better to crop out all those dark corners? I was expecting to see the cropped rectangle entirely contained within the image circle.

There's a risk of losing some of the information due to the significant frame shift. I did the final crop after stacking.

Ah, okay. I see that your earlier replies state that the MAD algorithm needs at least 50% of the image not to be outliers. I guess those dark corners amount to a good bit less than 50% (?).

I tried more images and apply statistics. I did not found in any picture better statistics (MAD) in that session. Btw, is there a way maybe to see statistics (MAD) of ALL IMAGES AT ONCE (like in DSO)?

At first step you choose as a reference an image where the statistic failed. This is an error.

I selected a similar picture for reference to yours (target at bottom-left). Because I don't know number of your pic which you are applied. This is similar position.

You told me that I use "2pass", right? When I check that, I leave sequence which Siril automatically creates me (cropped_convert_.seq). But because that, I got a red border around screen. And because that is a warning before stacking.

I think that registration 2pass creates reg files "in" that sequence and there is no other seq to select after registering 2pass.

So, registration was done in "cropped_convert_.seq".

I think that is not cropp.
Look carefully post #37. I many times try to cut all black edges, but, I got MAD=0 (sometimes I got 1). And right picture-other session, no crop, MAD=17 :-O

@lock042 said:

It must be some stupid wrong settings somewhere in Siril for me. Your all pictures have MAD, my don't have any. That is too strange.
