My AZ Gti guiding has been very temperamental.  There was a lot of backlash so I pulled the mount apart and adjusted the backlash as best as I coud.  First night the guiding was alful.  Second night I turned off dec guiding.  From the log, it appears that the rms on the ra drive was just 0.60 for 90 odd minutes. Thats doesnt sound right? Attached is the guiding log.  If anyone can diagnose my guiding from the log I would be grateful

From the Log Viewer image you had a reasonable RA of 0.60 RMS.

But RA Peak was 5.31, probably due to spikes, I can't really tell as the y-axis scale is so large on the Log Viewer image.

Dec was drifting due to Polar Alignment error.

It's impossible to get perfect PA, but 46 arcsecs drift in 76 minutes is pretty good PA.

PA error no worse than 5arcmins is good enough for guiding.

So without the GuideLog I 'm not sure what your complaint is.

If the problem is Dec backlash then guiding in one direction might be worth a try.
