how cool is this!!!

With a “donation” from my 3 year old xmass haul and some foam that came with my telescope, I made this! This January is one year with my new scope. One of my New Year’s resolutions was to figure out a way stop knocking over my eyepieces. I move around more than I would have expected, and it turns out that’s difficult thing to do in the dark. The tray in the middle of my tripod didn’t work out so well even after added a red light. I tried a side table.. not much improvement in portability, but got more space. When I saw this tackle box come through full of plastic toy kitchen utensils, I commandeered it under eminent domain hahahah!
I can’t wait to try this out!

Nice accessory box eminent domain rules here also when she's not home. Here is one I made from an old case from a digital volt meter and some pull foam from amazon. Only had my scope for a few months and for some reason I'm being punished by the "gods of the night" with only 2 or 3 clear nights. A big plus is I'm learning how to use the telescope through a window where it's warm and not full of snow

That's a problem I don't have YET, but it is on the horizon.  I'm looking at Pelican cases.

I have 2 Pelicans, got the for free. (dumpster dive)

If I had to purchase a case now I would go with Harbor Freight, I have checked them out at the store and they are nice.

Now THAT is an Idea I can run with!
Should I NEED to spend $500 on a case for my (multiple) $500 Eyepieces?  Not really.
I'm surprised TeleVue hasn't made me an honorary member of the Board or something.

Harbor Freight Apache cases for the win, and then when the pluck foam starts to fall apart, get some Kaizen foam to replace it and it will last forever. Just be mindful of what size you are getting and what your plans are. After laying out all of my gear and figuring out what size I would need, I would need to buy their rifle case ($150) for eyepieces, hand controller, finder scope, etc. but it wouldn't fit in the bed of my Jeep Gladiator. So, I wound up finding a Plano rifle case on Amazon ($100) that fit my needs best.

Harbor Freight is also good for coupons, don't impulse buy...save the impulse buys for the CN Classifieds lol.gif

Yikes!  Some of those Apache cases are over 6 inches deep, and at least SOME of the "delicate" things can be placed in vertically, instead of horizontally.  That's something I will be looking at very closely.  Odd that the 4800 is actually deeper than the 5800.

I have Apache cases (ok, one is actually from Northern Tools) and they're great for organizing.
