Taken a few hours ago from a fixed tripod using a Nikon Z8 and a Nikkor Z 180-600mm zoom lens. More details are in the image captions and you can click on the preview to see the full-sized image (1600 x 1200 pixels) as hosted here on CN.

Image processing with PixInsight, AutoStakkert!, and Photoshop 2025. This came from a 1.5X 3X drizzle using the best 192 256 of 348 subs. I think I picked up some sharpening artifacts but it's not too bad. The seeing today was only average and I had some cloudiness that I had to shoot around.

I suspect we are near to the peak in the sunspot activity for the week (over the last few days and now for a few days going forward).

[UPDATE]

Replaced image that had sharpening artifacts with a new version that is much "cleaner." The new image is based upon a 3X drizzle and I used more subs to try and better cover that drizzle. Of course, this is a size reduction from the original drizzle and it was reduced down to near the original capture scale on the Z8.

[/UPDATE]

These are beautfiul images. Very nice balance of contrast with amazing detail. Nice to see you using some more conventional photographic tools that someone might already have. I enjoy seeing these and comparing my own visual observations with what you have imaged. Thank you and keep posting!
