Thought this would be a fun comparison. I shot M1 over two nights with my ASI533MC and ASI533MM with the same scope ad created two different versions of the target.

Mouse over the image for the OSC version.

Acquisition details:

OSC:

Stars: 30 x 20s

L-Ultimate: 40 x 420s = 4h 40′

Total = 4h 40′

Mono:

Stars:

20 x 30s each of R,G and B

Narrowband:

Ha:  13 x 420s = 1h 31′

SII:  11 x 420s = 1h 31′

OIII: 13 x 420s = 1h 17′

Total: 4h 18′

Nice detail and a good comparison. You need to take some new darks for your OSC, at least I think that'll solve it. If you look close there's a bunch of groups of 3 red, 3 blue, and faintly 3 green "stars" in the image. Somebody else will correct me if I'm wrong with how to fix that.

Good observation! I will have to take darks as my current library is about 2 years old.

Here are the 100% crops with no editing done after stacking in WBPP ad combining SHO using LRGBCombination:

Can you please add SII channel or data to that L-Ultimate data and then see the new result and compare?

Perhaps I'm just not an SHO fan, but I find the colors in the OSC image to be more pleasing.

I like these comparisons, nice work. I agree with #6, It would be nice to see the SII added to the OSC.

None the less, you can certainly see the strength of the mono signal, easily seen in the background. Both are great!

It is very strange that i also prefer that from OSC over SHO, but to be honest, no all targets will be as pleasing from OSC compared to SHO from mono, for example Rosette nebula and California and even NA/Pelican are all much nicer for me as SHO over HOO or OSC HOO.

Since color is so subjectivr, I have uploaded my star aligned Sii and OSC images here if you want to play around with combining these images. Please post your results so that I can learn the process, too!
