Dear All,

I have never used a filter since I started this hoppy. However, I'm thinking of trying a UHC filter in my light polluted Bortel 7 sky. I have two questions:

1. Would you recommend an UHC filter at all? Will it make a big enough difference on nebulas like Orion or Lagoon?

2. I don't have the filter switch of Denkmeier. Where would I screw in the filter (might look lie a stupid question but I couldn't find anything on that in the manual or in the internet)?

Thank you,

Arnheim

I am following this with interest as I too live in terrible light pollution, have the Binotron 27 and have thought about using a filter.

Hi there Arnheim.

I have used a UHC filter on nebula, including Orion, and appreciated it, but that was with my 11" SCT and before I got the Binotron - so I have not tried it there. We have had such poor viewing for 3 years, curtesy of the La Nina weather pattern that give us wetter years than usual, including in what should be our dry season (winter) that only short sessions with quick set ups have been possible. How I long for a good dry season again and the chance for good long session while at home!

Back to your question, a 2 inch filter can screw onto the nose of the Binotron or an OCS if you have it there, or at least they do on mine. Mine has the filter switch, so I've not done that, but could do if wanting to combine filters.
