I vote on the Dobsonian ,For years I've use a push to for learning and keeping constellations and other objects memorized .
my other scopes for other observation purposes .

For visual astronomy I would recommend a 8” Dobsonian as it offers the right balance of aperture, simplicity and at an affordable price point. More details on my blog below.

Like everyone else, I would go for the Dob. Using a goto scope without knowing the night sky, stars names etc.. can be frustrating to line up. Also as mentioned, you don't know the shape of the electronics. I started with a 6 inch dob, and I now own a goto scope as well. I am glad I started with the dob, and it still gets a lot of use, it is just quicker to get going and provides great views of the stars. Have fun with the hobby.
