For many years, I have been interested in amateur astronomy. At 82 years of age, I have decided to become an active sky searcher again. For about 2 years, I have tried various imaging systems without a great deal of success. Thanks to the advances in technology and the training videos available today, I have obtained a wonderful–and very portable–imaging system and the software to process the images I capture. Now, I am once again an active imager.

Congratulations !!  I use the AM5 and ASI AIR Pro.  With patience while doing polar alignment, you should be able to get 10 minute subs !  However until you try, I would suggest many many many more subs.  I think you mentioned 12 - 5 min subs on your first picture and 17 - 5 min subs on another.  You might consider going for 3,4,5,6 hours of total exposure time !   That comes to 36 to 100 subs.   The difference in picture quality is amazing.

Great job, I hope you continue to enjoy !

Dan

That’s awesome! Remember…you’re never too old to be young again.

Dan,

Check my latest website article: https://selectdigita...ry/nebulae.html. You will find longer images of the nebulae. It would be wonderful to have a clear shot of the night sky for longer total exposure times. However, traveling is pretty much out for me, now. 3 hours might be abut the best I can do for the objects I shoot, at least on a single night. Let me know what you think of my nebulae article.

I pray that I'm still doing this in 50+ years when I'm 82 years old. Congratulations! Fantastic photos.
