I have a 1980s version of the SP-C8 telescope.  It has an right angle illuminated finder.  I am wondering if anyone knows if the finder diagonal can be adjusted for more comfortable viewing.  There are no set screws that lock the finder diagonal in place and it can be quite difficult to use the finder depending on the object position.  The manual that I have does not include instructions for this finder.

Thank you

I don't think that one turns. When I had a similar finder on my C8, long ago, I turned the whole finder so the eyepiece stuck out at about a 45 degree angle. That helped for a wider range of positions, but there were still angles where it wasn't comfortable.

So how exactly is the diagonal held in place then? There must be a screw somewhere that is tightening the (non EP part of the) diagonal onto the finder itself, no?

My recollection is that on many of these the diagonal screws in until it stops. If that's the case, you can unscrew it to change the angle, but it then flops around.

Loosen a set screw on each ring, rotate finder, finger tip tighten set screws tips. It's a finder. Touch it up before you go to next visit. Go directly to Just Visiting, do not pass go.
