Not overly sure how to describe is, but my HEQ5 RA axis is rather stiff in some spots, which makes balancing a bit hard. I bought the mount second hand, and noticed it when balancing. I thought it would just be the bearings, to which yesterday I replaced all the bearings in both axis’, but this didn’t help with the stiff spot. I noticed the stiff area kind of changes when I adjust the two worm engagement grub screws. I’ve change the preload on the tapered bearing, which didn’t help either. I used an abrasive to try and remove some material off of the worm gear casing (not the actual worm gear), because I thought they may be colliding at some point. I’ve cleaned everything, I sanded some paint off of the connection point of the worm gear casing and the plate. I feel like I’m running out of ideas. The mount it smoother with the new bearings, but it’s still stiff in a location, that can change based on the tightness of the two engagement grub screws. The grease I used was Parktool Polylube, which I was told was fine to use. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
