When I turn everything on I am stuck with the Autostar not going past the "SPEED = 8x or MODE for menu"

Any advice will be appreciated.

Gday George

What type of mount,

handset type,

firmware loaded??

Something odd is going on ( possibly a stuck '1' key )

as the screen should have "align or mode for menu"

The "Speed =" prompt is only shown if you have pressed the speed key

OK, as its a 497, it sounds like the "3" key is stuck down

as the "speed = 8x " prompt is tied to that key being down

I thought the PE ETX needed a later firmware. 43E is fine for the AT and EC editions.

Gday DeSitter

The only original thing with the PE was its fancy stencils on the OTA.

Other than that, "functionally", its just a bog std ETX with LNT module built in

( vs added with an external curly cord supply )

To my mind, the only reason to use anything greater than 43Eg is

1) Support for later models

ie 43E does not support LX65,70,80,85,VM,LT or StarNavigators )

2) Support for PPEC in the LX85

( But for this, you stil need to patch the firmware or it wont work :-(   )
