No lunar eclipse for me.  The sky clouded over before the eclipse started.  But I got a chance to look at the Moon with my Orion 8x30's.  Nice, very sharp image.   Also, there was enough eye relief that I could keep my eyeglasses on.

Bob:  I'm very happy with mine.  I think you'll like it.  DrJ1

Well I quickly tried them, after receiving them, but need to further test. I was surprised at how well built they were, kinda like a clone of my Fuji 16x70. But really disappointed in the eye relief and I don't wear glasses. The stated spec of 18mm eye relief, is no were close to the useable eyerelief which might be closer to 10mm, as I had to press my eyesockets into the not so flexible eyecups to be able to see the whole FOV. I did this in daytime, and  know these are made for astronomy so will re attempt in some nice clear night sky. The image was quite sharp, and snapped into focus for each eye.

10-11mm is about what I thought as well before I returned mine a while back (I'm an eyeglass wearer). It did seem a little less "restrictive" during the nighttime, and they are super sharp and well built (and heavy).

Is it possible to fold the eyecups down completely?  This is what I do for all my binoculars that have eyecups, in order to have a little more eye relief.

It will also increase the effective outer diameter of the eyepieces.  You might have to find slightly bigger eye caps for the eyepieces.  But that's OK by me as long as I can keep my eyeglasses on while viewing through the binos.  I have no use for binos that won't let me keep my eyeglasses on.

If you don't wear eyeglasses and can fold the eyecups down, you should have no problem with eye relief.

I'll try that today, but they seemed kinda rigid and not flexible enough to do that yesterday. But the binos were outside after delivery and were quite cold

The way I typically use the 15x70 reso is with the eyecups folded down and I use glasses/ no glasses for observing. I don't have a great difficulty with blackouts that some can have when their eyeball is too close to the eyepiece when it come to eye position.. I do agree that the eyepiece top is far away from the eyelens- giving up a lot of eye relief in the build to wasted space.    Pat

Same here! i was so bummed out, i had everything setup to take photos, the moon was about 80% covered and starting to turn red, I went to use the restroom, came back and big set of clouds covering the moon fully ... what a bummer

I got the High Point sale email, but everything 15x70 was sold out. Shocker! Looked at other sites and brands and it seems they are out of stock too. Must be a supply side issue of some kind or a massive run on astronomical binoculars. Are there other brands that are equivalent to Orion RESOLUX?
