Looked at the 4" meade I have. It's a 4" F9. Does that ring any bells?

Thanks!  Those are the first -- TOWAs.  The MIZARs must've come in around 1995??

FYI:  In my years on ZEN, I haven't seen a white or off-white MIZAR 4" F10...

Meade was selling blue Towas and blue Mizars in 1985

Towa= Observer Series

Mizar= Proffessional series

The little Mizar 277 was being offered to compete with Celestron's CO-62 Cometron back then as well. (Halley)

the OTA is a home built scope.   Only the cell is Meade.  I was hoping someone would recognize the cell.  Could not have been many F9 4" refractors.

The only 4" Meade achromats I know of are the 440 series from the 70s - f/15 - and the 400 series from the 80s, which were f/10.

Meade offered a 4" f9 achromat in the early to mid 90s.  White tube and made in Taiwan.  Here's a thread discussing the Bresser branded version but Meade definitely sold a white tube versions in the mid 90s.  I remember because my first scope, a Meade 4500 reflector, was part of the same series and I really wanted the refractor but couldn't afford it.

Edited to add:  The scope that was associated with the same series as my 4500 was likely a 90mm refractor.  The 102 ACHRO I'm thinking of, and linked above, was sold with the LXD500 mount.  Not much info out there but they did exist.

interesting.   When I used the scope I had it in Saturn and it was sharp as a tack.  I need to replace the thick tube with something lighter.  Reminds me of a fence post.  It is 1/8" thick aluminum.
