Aside from star party events can anyone suggest some accommodations that would permit setting up astro gear outside without the concern of light interference from neighbors?  I'm willing to travel from NC to Utah or Arizona for a week or two of vacation if I can find something to rent that offers nice, dark night skies and the opportunity to perhaps catch some national parks by day.  Any suggestions?  This is for future reference as I don't have a specific time frame.   I'm retired so have plenty of flexibility.  Also, should add that I'm not interested in camping and do not own an RV.  A small cabin or house rental would probably work.

(I'm not sure if I've selected the proper forum to post this question)

If you are willing to go to New Mexico, there is Rusty's there. It's about 10 miles west of the Dark Sky New Mexico remote observatories:

I just learned of the Kaibab Lodge near the north rim of the Grand Canyon. The lead astronomy contact says that the observing field is within walking distance of the cabins and it is safe to leave your gear set up. It is at 9000' and gets cold at night.

I think it is part of the 2025 Grand Canyon Star Party in June.
