MIZAR 80R F15 + R-85 (BlockHead) EQ Kit:   https://zenmarket.jp...ode=l1175078929

Currently at $28.  Did these EQs have a built-in drive -- like a Tak EM-1??  Should be a stable platform.

Do my eyes spy a Polar Scope as well?

After dabbling in Zenmarket last year I still have $150 in my account. Not a bad way to spend that, you think?

It would be fun cleaning it up and I bet it has a worthy lens from the looks of it. I'm thinking you'll have to add a bit for shipping before it's all said and done.

Shipping in Japan is going to be $25.00-30.00. If you can talk the Zen warehouse into disassembling it you might get it shipped cheap in three packages, ground. Another $120.00? Otherwise my guess is a couple hundred, maybe someone with more experience can be more precise.

Eric beat me to it, but I think he may be a bit high.

Ad says the scope weighs 20kg not including the weight of the packaging. The Zenmarket shipping calculator estimates that it would be right around $300 to ship to my zip code. That doesn't include the eventual price of the scope. Nor does it include the in country shipping fee. I estimate that it would cost upwards of $500 or more, which puts it out of my comfort zone for a 40 year old scope of unknown provenance.

Yeah, I've been tempted by several telescopes on Zenmarket, but the shipping calculator always says it would cost $100 to $300 just to ship it to California. I know I have to build the price into the final cost of what I'm willing to pay, but the crazy high shipping always puts the overall price much higher than I'm willing to pay.

Does it really cost so much to ship something from Japan? I've bought lots of things from Aliexpress in China and the shipping is usually free or at least a very small amount.

I, too, have purchased a number of items via Aliexpress without incurring any shipping charges and/or additional fees after the items passed through customs. I'm not sure why they can do so while astro-items shipping from Japan can't but my guess is that since Aliexpress, overall, ships worldwide in bulk, it can negotiate a more favorable rate with shippers on behalf of its vendors.

A complete (I think) set of Clave eyepieces:

https://www.cloudyni...plossls-barlow/

$2500.

Good price, but Clave made eyepieces from 3mm to 70mm.

2 much money for the AP and Tec by heck.

Well, the 140mms are rare because AP switched to a 160mm but it would be a real choice between it and the TEC.

2mm? You'd have to attach it to your cornea with immersion oil!

AP Starfire 130 down to $16,700:

https://astromart.co...-turismo-609926

Considering you can get Tak 130s for $5700, and TEC 140s for $6000, he has a ways to go if he really wants to sell it.  I also did a search and found most of these for sale around $6000.

17 eyepieces in the set.  Very nice!

19 - the two horizontal ep's in the center of the box are 1.25" 30mm and 35mm - there are also 2" versions of the same - and then there is the barlow which is hidden in a compartment in the box under the two horizontal ep's.

3mm/4mm/5mm/6mm/8mm/10mm/12mm//16mm/20mm/25mm/30mm/35mm - and then the big ones are 57mm/2" called the Pic Du Midi Series (made for the famous French observatory) in the following sizes - 30mm/35mm/40mm/45mm/55mm/65mm/75mm.

Plossl's - really great planetary ep's but don't put them away, they are fantastic for DSO's as well, especially when resolving globs - very smooth asymmetrical design.

Don't exagerate...

Exception at most for the 6mm and shorter, the eye relief Is not all that short.

The narriw field of view also is not all that narrow, the more for those 600 x and larger magnifications on planets that are at your reach: not a case if high res visual observers consider the Clavés as a benchmark.

I bet that you'll be surprised by their performances if uou compare your Clavés to your others highest grade High resolution eyepieces (no matter which their respective manufacturer is: with minor differences, this sticks true in comparing Clavés to Zeisses, Research Grades, Masuyamas, Taks, TV...

Forgot to Say: if still you do not like them, Just out them for sale: you'll sell them in a heartbeat for very good money.

They can keep the G11.  Not gonna do well with that big OTA. I got my dream 10" F/6 with a mirror that can't be beat.  But i would like that tube if the FL is the same.
