Hi David,
Yes, this was Really disappointing ! That the glass is Not what I thought it was was difficult at first, but it was more disappointing that the project i wanted to do was not going to happen.
But, this kind of surprise or 'accident' is certainly not as bad as other possibilities. What I have learned through this might make some other glass useful in ways I hadn't expected. There is more work to do.
The blanks for sale that you mention would be a real 'stretch' for me these days, and as things are now, I still have more glass that I very much want to get to.
The issue now, really, is time. 'Retirement' is not nearly as 'calm' as I expected and if I am short on cash, I am rich in things to do. I am happy with some scopes I have and what I've so far learned, but am itching to grind some more, try some ( for me) new things.

And, again, David,
Thank you Very much for selling me glass that wasn't just 'good'
but allowed me an introduction into all this. It meant much more to
me than just an 'achromat'. I know I am not as far along as most here
but for me, it was a big deal, and I Greatly appreciate your help
and encouragement !!
