Hello,

I am new to PixInsight and would like to create an HDR composition of M42. I followed the HDR Multiscale Transform video and tried to use different blend modes in Pixel Math but I didn't like the results. Both images are already stretched and aligned. Now I just need to add the details from the picture on the right (stack of short exposures) to the overexposed trapezium region of the image on the left.

Thank you,
Simon

I'm a beginner as well but I see a process in PI called HDR Composition.  Could this be what you need?

Yes, I believe it is HDR Composition that you want.  Just add the files, tell it to go, and it will do its thing.  You can fiddle with the controls, but the one time I used it (for M-42), i just let it use the default settings and it did fine.
