Hello fellow members,

I’m new here and would like to share a small project I’ve been working on.

I wrote a simple Python script that runs in your web browser to help quickly choose a deep-sky object when the skies clear unexpectedly.

Although I have a list of favorite targets, sometimes I need to decide fast before the clouds return.

I have open sourced the tool on GitHub, and I hope it can be useful for you too.

The script shows my favorite objects with real-time updates of their positions and other helpful details.

Feel free to check it out on GitHub: https://github.com/m...ova_DSO_tracker

Thank you for reading, and clear skies!

This is really nice. I’m definitely going to try it out this week. I wonder if there is thread for announcing new open source software - this should be a sticky somewhere.

Welcome to CN!

Quite the entrance! Most first time posters are asking which end of the telescope to look into, rather than posting a link to the sophisticated astronomical software they wrote. Thanks for sharing!
