TLDR: BrosTrend AC1200 WiFi to Ethernet Adapter works great and is easy to set up!
Full version:
My Mele Quieter 4C has enough range to connect to my laptop in my house if I'm next to a window, but not in other places. The Q4C has been laboriously set up to emit a hot-spot even without wifi based on Cuiv's video. He does a great job walking through it step by step by Windows makes it very difficult. It's so convoluted that I didn't think a range extender would work, but I had BrosTrend AC1200 WiFi to Ethernet Adapter sitting around and I was balking at attempting to do antenna surgery, so I figured I would try this first. The intended purpose of the device is to take something that has an Ethernet port, but not WiFi, and convert the cable connection into a wireless connection.
I plugged a 6ft Ethernet cable from the Mele into the BrosTrend, which was plugged into my astronomy battery. I went through the standard setup using the BrosTrend manual. It created the signal on start-up like the native connection but routed it through the more powerful BrosTrend antennae. The WiFi signal it created had the same name as the Mele's native signal, but with _5G appended, so there was no ambiguity about which one I was connecting to
At first it didn't seem to be working because remote desktop was either unresponsive or very slow. But after using it a few times it seems that the connection registers but isn't fully ready right a way and waiting a couple minutes resolves the problems. Once it's actually running, there is no lag and the range is enough to go through multiple walls. Furthermore, if your setup involved long distances, it should be entirely possible to run a long Ethernet wire from the mini-PC to the BrosTrend which could be plugged in to an external wall outlet on the house. Then the WiFi would only have a short additional distance to cross.
I've only tested it on my Q4C but it would presumably work with any mini-PC.
