I'd love to make a mini cuff checklist for our guests at our star parties. About the size of the one the Apollo astronauts used.

Is there a Word template that would give a format for a 3x4 inch page size or so, 4 to 8 page book?

thanks,

bob kelly

Probably easier to make them in PowerPoint and then use the print as handouts: https://support.micr...76-cae8f3e1a402

This might work as a starting point. There are aviation kneeboard files but you might get something out of them.

I have no comment about how to make one, but I am curious what items you would put on such a checklist -- perhaps there are things I have not thought of, that I should be telling to guests at outreach events.

Clear sky ...

Thank you for the suggestions!

I used power point to put together a booklet, then saved as a pdf and sent it to the club.

Just a first attempt!

But the file is over 500k, so I can't upload it.

Clear sky ...

Page 1 Welcome to our star party and setting and rising times of Sun, Moon and bright planets.

Page 2 Star map excerpt of area around Jupiter and Mars

Page 3 Jupiter's moons from the Sky & Telescope online app

Page 4/5 March sky map over two pages in the centerfold

Page 6 & 7 Charts and data from heavens-above.com of ISS overflights

Page 8 Tables of satellite overflights for mag 3 and brighter from heavens-above.com

Aim is to make the most commonly used items most accessible on cover pages and the sky chart in the centerfold.

It's 511k even with massive compression of the graphics, or I'd post it here. It'd be great if people could download it and use it.

Try going in PowerPoint to print to pdf, there’s usually an ability to choose between for publication or for internet (lower resolution). That may allow you to share it on here.

By the way, it rained at the start of the star party.

We'll try again this Saturday, another big astronomy day, with the partial eclipse at sunrise, and the star party at sunset.
