I see Svbony just announced a $200 camera, good specs, that I ordered it. With the eBay deal $185. Not a global shutter, but good for Solar scopes like Lunt 40, and White Filters, USB 3.. Also maybe good for Solar & Planets imaging. I did not see anyone posting on it...

But since I don't see any Ascom or driver software, must be USB Windows support, Direct USB? So Sharp Cap should support it?

IMX715 sensor; 1/2.8-inch Format, 1.45μm x 1.45μm pixel size, supports up to 8 million pixels, enabling it to capture extremely detailed image information. It offers higher dynamic range and lower noise,  ensuring high-quality and detailed images even in low-light conditions, meeting the needs of professional astrophotography; effectively reduces star trailing or blur during long exposures, ensuring that no details are lost;
STARVIS II technology; the SC715C osc camera employs advanced image processing algorithms, resulting in higher sensitivity and lower noise levels;
USB 3.0 Port & ST4 Guide; the SC715C astronomy camera supports data transmission at 45.5 frames per second at full resolution; the cmos camera IMX715 can also connect to an equatorial mount to adjust its position in real-time, preventing shake caused by positional drift and ensuring clear, detailed images;
512MB DDR3 cache; allowing the osc camera to respond quickly to every command, reducing delay during focusing and zooming. It ensures smooth, seamless shooting, making it easy for you to effortlessly capture every brilliant moment;
C/CS-mount eyepiece solution; suitable for different installation needs.

SVBONY cameras are typically well supported in SharpCap.

I sent a message as I would like the newer SVBONY cameras have an Ascom driver? But I don't think they are or will.

Thanks

Christopher

I've never needed an ASCOM driver for any of my cameras, including the SVBONYs. You just need the generic camera driver from SVBONY. It's just a dll. You can sometimes run into problems where a new camera requires you to update your driver dll, but it should be available on the website if so. Otherwise SharpCap typically comes with the latest drivers installed for all the common manufacturers, ZWO, QHY, Touptek, Ogma, SVBONY, etc.

Cool, thank you. Since almost all Astro Eq is Ascom supported making it most compatible with NINA, and other Astro software. But thanks I can use Sharp Cap directly and just got Svbony SDK driver..

This thread came up as I was looking for a new planetary. Any comments on its performance so far? There's only a handful of reviews on Youtube

You can see results here taken with the sensor https://app.astrobin...ny-imx715-color

There is already a ZWO ASI715MC and QHY5III715C version.

Thank Jon, so what do you think of it? Not sure what ZWO or QHY sells there 715? I am thinking adding 1 of those ipad/gaming cooling unit about 2.5" square to cool the sensor as I would think that would help with the noise?

Thanks

Christopher

I don’t believe a fan will make much difference, if any, for short planetary/lunar imaging. I have the Player One fan attachment and it made no real difference to my 60 sec DSO exposures on my IMX585 (I carried out two nights of imaging on M51, one night with the fan, one without it). Though it helps on solar as it physically cools the heat from the body of the camera on my Apollo-mini. It made no difference on lunar imaging with my IMX585.

I have imaged planetary/lunar with TEC cooled cameras and I turn the cooling off as I have not seen any improvement on noise with very short exposures. Now if you intend to push longer exposures than 60secs or have very warm ambient night temps, they may be a small marginal gain.

If you want to do DSO use a TEC cooled camera, fan cooled only cameras are not worth the extra cost or effort in imho (unless you are doing some solar).

My sc715c just came in.  SharpCap identifies the camera as a ToupTek 715.  Something strange.  Significant latency between the camera and SharpCap.  Something like 5 seconds.  That really makes a challenge to try to focus.  I need to double check my drivers.  But that was an unexpected surprise.  It seems to work really nice once I get it into focus.
