Hi, I'm the otherwise happy owner of a pair of Baader Maxbright II binos. They are great and I love binoviewing, but one of the major things that bother me that the way you always lose the IPD setting in the dark when messing with the bino. I can't read the IPD scale in the dark, so it's hard to get back on track. It's typically when changing eyepieces or when turning it to adjust the angle that they get out of adjustment (I use a dobson, so I have to often adjust the binos to match the new altitude angle).

It would be awesome if there was a screw somewhere to lock it, or perhaps one could manufacture a piece of metal or wood to lock in the IPD setting.

The answer to your question is "no", there isn't. I experience the same thing with my Mk V BV. I simply readjust the BV IPD until the image merges.

I find it's easiest to keep the exit pupil a little larger than when I'm using one eye. The larger ep makes it easier to capture the images simultaneously and then you can tweak the IPD. Remember, at high power, a tenth of a millimetre matters.

Typically, I don't use an ep of less than 0.65 Sitting at the scope helps greatly.

Hello PilsnerDk,

I know the answer, but did you contact Baader first?

Kind regards,

Denis
