We had fairly good sky conditions for the lunar eclipse here in southwest Ohio except for some patches of cloud that passed overhead near the end of totality and the beginning of the final partial phase.

I captured images with my TeleVue 102 and an ASI294MC from 12:45 AM - 5:01 AM and made a timelapse video. Here's the link if you'd like to check it out:

Thanks for looking!

Excellent time lapse video. Great job putting this together. I know it takes a lot of effort.

Very glad to see this. Thanks for the share.

I am southeast of Columbus and had a great experience but did not get enough for a video. I loved this and shared it with my granddaughter, so I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Good job. Clear skies...rick

That was super cool Matt!!

I slid the time bar and had the eclipse go by in ten seconds !!

What an awesome teaching aid.

My hats off to you !

Thanks so much for all the replies and the kind words, everyone. These timelapse projects are very time consuming but they're also a lot of fun. Clear and steady skies to you all.

Incredible! Thank you, for sharing.

How to fix Moon's position at the center of the video? In my time lapse video, the position drifted to the 'center-of-crescent'. Since moon was manually tracked (perhaps this is one way to solve it) hence had to use PIPP to crop each frame and PIPP looked for center of gravity of the lit part of the disc and centered the frame at that position. Due to which in the final video the disc drifted away from the center of the full moon to center of the crescent.

I hope I'm making sense. :)

Is there a software/method to correct this?

Thanks.

I had exactly the same problem with Pipp. I must have tried dozens of combinations of frame stabilization settings but I could never get it to work well with my data. I eventually found luck with the image alignment tool in ImPPG using the "align on the solar limb" option.

+1 for ImPPG, it worked well for me too.

Bit late respons, but why is it like I can see the stars through(!) the Moon, when it gets darkened?
